2020 General Election Endorsements

Equality Michigan Action Network (EQMI Action) serves as Michigan’s premiere statewide political advocacy organization. We are made up of passionate individuals who invest their time and talents championing the rights of the LGBTQ community.

EQMI Action Network is committed to endorsing and supporting openly LGBTQ+ and pro-equality candidates — up and down the ballot — who will fight for civil rights and social justice. Check out our Voting tab for information related to your polling place, voting rights, and to see a sample ballot.

Candidate Considerations

  • Candidate must be 100% in support of LGBTQ equality to be considered for endorsement.
  • Candidate must be viable and able to run a competitive campaign.
  • Candidate’s depth of work in support of full LGBTQ equality.
  • Is candidate openly lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender?
  • Will this candidate diversify our support base?
  • EQMI Action Network gives endorsement preference to incumbents with a 100 percent favorable voting record.
  • Candidates who have no voting record shall receive an endorsement only after favorable review of their comprehensive candidate questionnaire.
  • We invite all candidates, regardless of party, to return a questionnaire and apply for our endorsement.
