Equality Michigan Action Network endorses viable candidates running for statewide offices and the state legislature who have a proven track record of supporting equal rights and legal protections for LGBTQ+ Michiganders. We remain committed to endorsing and supporting openly LGBTQ+ and pro-equality candidates — up and down the ballot — who will fight for civil rights and social justice. In order to qualify for endorsement, a candidate must have scored 100% on our equality questionnaire, they must be able to run a competitive campaign, and they must have a 100% favorable voting record (if applicable). In districts where multiple candidates scored 100% on the equality questionnaire, Equality Michigan Action Network marked the candidates as “100% Pro-Equality.”
Equality is on the ballot in 2022, and the stakes have never been higher for LGTBQ+ people. The Michigan Legislature has launched multiple attacks against our community, and the following could be impacted by this election cycle: Conversion Therapy Ban, Safe and Healthy Schools, Family Recognition, Amending Michigan’s Elliott Larsen Civil Rights Act to Include Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity, Hate Crimes, Adoption and Foster Care, and more.
