Equality Michigan Action Network endorses viable candidates running for state legislature, county-level positions, and judicial positions who have a proven track record of supporting equal rights and legal protections for LGBTQ+ Michiganders. We remain committed to endorsing and supporting openly LGBTQ+ and pro-equality candidates — up and down the ballot — who will fight for civil rights and social justice in our state.
We have to protect LGBTQ+ equality with our vote this year on November 3, 2026.
In 2022, voters elected a majority to the Michigan legislature that enacted long-overdue civil rights protections for our community. But 2024 came with setbacks amid renewed attacks on our LGBTQ+, and especially our transgender, neighbors.
We need you in the fight in 2026!
Every sixteen years, voters in Michigan have to decide whether to hold a constitutional convention (con-con). A Con-Con allows delegates to make sweeping changes to the state constitution, opening the door for Lansing politicians and special interests to write their own rules and agendas without any accountability or oversight from voters. There are no campaign finance rules governing delegate races — no contribution limits, no disclosure requirements, no guardrails. Anyone with money, including out-of-state interests, could spend unlimited and untraceable amounts to install delegates. A constitutional convention could have serious consequences for equality for LGBTQ+ Michiganders. That’s why Equality Michigan Action Network is urging fellow equality supporters to vote NO on Proposal 1. Learn more here.
Proposal 2 cracks down on pay-to-play politics and a system where career politicians trade favors and government contracts for campaign cash from monopoly utility companies and big government contractors. Proposal 2 prohibits monopoly utilities and big government contractors from donating to politicians who regulate them and hand out their contracts. Equality Michigan Action Network knows that affordability and a democracy that works for people are equality-issues. That’s why we are urging equality advocates to vote YES on Proposal 2. In order to qualify for endorsement, a candidate must have scored 100% on our equality questionnaire, they must be able to run a competitive campaign, and they must have a 100% favorable voting record (if applicable). A formal endorsement indicates our belief that this candidate is the best choice available for advancing LGBTQ+ equality based on the information that was available to us.
In districts where multiple viable candidates applied for endorsement, Equality Michigan Action Network has provided an “Approved” Candidate status to those who answered the questionnaire 100% correctly. This is not a formal endorsement of one candidate over another, but rather an indicator for equality voters to understand whether a certain candidate has a track record of pro-equality actions or has conveyed pro-equality values.
