School Climate for LGBTQ+ Youth in Michigan

Michigan schools are not safe for most lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) secondary school students, according to findings from the GLSEN 2019 National School Climate Survey. In addition, many LGBTQ+ students in Michigan do not have access to important school resources, such as an LGBTQ+ inclusive curriculum, and are not protected by supportive and inclusive school policies.

You can help ensure that our state government does their part in protecting and empowering LGBTQ+ youth in Michigan schools by urging them to strike down any hateful bills and instead pass supportive and inclusive K-12 policies. Take action by contacting your legislator using the form below. If you would like to share your story of how you’ve been impact by the legislature’s anti-LGBTQ+ attacks, please share your story using the form at the bottom of this page.
